EHR-Integrated RCM Automation Without Workflow Disruption
EHR-integrated RCM automation connects Sarva's AI agents to your EHR and practice management system via native API connections, enabling automated eligibility, claim scrubbing, denial management, and AR follow-up without your team leaving their existing workflow. Sarva works alongside your EHR billing module — not as a separate system — so adoption does not require workflow changes.
Connect Your EHR to SarvaThe Business Problem
Many RCM tools require staff to switch between the EHR and a separate platform, creating friction and reducing adoption. Billers and coders already work in their EHR billing module; adding another system to their workflow creates resistance and inefficiency. The ideal automation layer works within the existing EHR environment — reading data and writing results back without requiring staff to learn a new interface.
Affected Team
All revenue cycle staff who work in the EHR — billers, coders, front desk, and billing managers. Workflow disruption is the primary barrier to RCM technology adoption.
How It Works
Current Manual Workflow
Staff work in the EHR billing module for all tasks: eligibility checking, claim preparation, submission, status checking, denial management, and AR follow-up. Every task is manual within the EHR. If an external tool is used, staff must switch between the EHR and the tool, creating duplicate work and context switching.
Automated Workflow with Sarva
Sarva connects to the EHR via API and operates as an invisible automation layer. When an encounter is finalized, Sarva scrubs the claim. When a denial is received, Sarva reads it from the EHR and routes it. When a payment arrives, Sarva posts it back. Staff see results in their EHR — not in a separate dashboard. Sarva writes denial notes, claim statuses, and payment postings back to the EHR as the system of record.
Inputs
- EHR API connection and credentials
- Encounter and claim data from the EHR
- Payer connections for eligibility and claims
- Billing workflow configuration by EHR type
Outputs
- Automated claim scrubbing within EHR workflow
- Denial notes and statuses written back to EHR
- Payment postings written back to EHR
- Eligibility results in the EHR encounter
- AR follow-up outcomes logged in the EHR
- EHR remains the system of record
Human Oversight
Staff work in the EHR as usual. Sarva handles automation behind the scenes — staff see the results (clean claims, posted payments, routed denials) in their normal workflow. Exceptions surface in the EHR worklist or via notifications, not in a separate tool.
Security Considerations
EHR API credentials are encrypted and stored securely. All data exchange is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Sarva accesses only the data needed for billing automation — not clinical notes beyond what is required for coding. HIPAA BAA included. SOC 2 Type II certified.
Integration Considerations
Sarva supports native API connections to 70+ EHRs and practice management systems including athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Tebra, AdvancedMD, ModMed, DrChrono, Elation Health, and more. For EHRs without robust APIs, Sarva uses database-level integration or clearinghouse connections. The EHR remains the system of record — Sarva writes back to it.
Limitations
Integration depth varies by EHR. Some EHRs have robust APIs that support full bidirectional data flow; others have limited APIs that restrict write-back capabilities. For EHRs with limited APIs, some Sarva actions may require manual confirmation in the EHR. Integration setup time varies by EHR — from 1 day (athenahealth) to 1–2 weeks (legacy systems).
